BME Flying Hydro!

Just in case you guys were wondering the weather outside is disgusting.

But it can't stop me from taking out a new foamy!!! Check out the BME Flyin Hydro! It's been tucked away for about 6 months and with the weather the way it is I guess it was time to build.

This one was given to me for some repair work I did a few months back, but if you had to buy one they're only $50 for a 4 pack!  Fully expecting the foamy hydro to not live forever, I opted for the "economic" electronics: 4 tower pro 9 gram servos ($3 each), a $14 brushless motor, and $10 Dynam/Detrum 18A esc and an 8x6 prop.  I balanced and flew it with a 3 cell 800mah lipo, but even that was waaay overkill.

A few hours later, she's ready to go!!  Flight is a little tricky and basically flies like a derpon flat foamy.  There is NO airfoil so you better be prepared to harrier most of the time it's in the air.  In the water it is smooth and steady.  Twin rudders steer it with ease and even my 3 yr old could navigate the retaining pond without much effort!

Realistically 4 guys could build these for about $50 each and have a blast doing hot laps on a pond or an aerial demolition derby.  Is it a great first plane?  NOT EVEN CLOSE.  As a novelty flier, you better believe it!!!
