With the "re-kitting" of the Slick I finally had the engine and a few pieces needed to finish the new Yak 55 from ValleyViewRC.com. With the popularity of Edges, Slicks, MSR's and all the smooth face racers, it's nice to see such a great new classic entry in the 30% class.
First thing about the kit is the size! 87" wing span, 80" in length and an all up weight of around 16 lbs, you better believe performance is unbelievable!
My trusty DLE-55 pulls this baby around with authority and with the new Xoar 23x8 carbon prop uplines are smooth and braking is incredibly effective! Check out the bling from the functional cooling louvres and scale prop hub too.
Probably one of my favorite details are the stripes on the bottom of the wings and stabs. You want to talk about easy to orient in the sky!?
All in all, the new Yak 55 is a rock solid performer. Lines were straight and landings were greasy and smooth! In case you're wondering, yes this locked in low hover was on the maiden and was probably one of the easiest planes to prop hang yet!
